El coche autónomo no es ciencia-ficción. Todavía no ha llegado a los concesionarios pero se están realizando pruebas por todo el mundo. Su implantación supondrá una auténtica revolución en el transporte terrestre de viajeros y mercancías.

“Todos los estudios aseguran una disminución de los accidentes y las consecuencias derivadas de ellos. En Estados Unidos y Europa se estima que el 94% de los accidentes son provocados por errores humanos. Y en el Reino Unido se prevé que la incorporación de esta tecnología evite 2.500 muertes por accidente de tráfico hasta 2030. Los vehículos autónomos permitirán un aumento de la seguridad en la conducción, ya que cumplirán estrictamente la legislación viaria. Este factor reducirá el número de siniestros, lesiones y muertes por accidente de tráfico”, especifica Pedro Javier Navarro, líder del grupo de investigación del vehículo autónomo de la División de Sistemas e Ingeniería Electrónica (DSIE) de la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT).

IoTphile: Running an OpenFlow switch on a Raspberry Pi

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) (a relatively new technology that emerged from the principle of programmable networks) was created to configure network devices more flexibly and dynamically.

SDN provides three important capabilities to IoT: Control through software that has complete knowledge of the network, Abstraction of the details of the devices and protocols, and flexibility to tune the components within the IoT.

The most frequent implementation of SDN is OpenFlow. Some well-known vendors of networking devices have implemented the OpenFlow protocol in their business networking hardware.

Network switches, some of the most important networking devices, connect the elements in a computer network by using packet switching to receive, process and forward data to the destination device.

This video shows a test environment created to evaluate the possibility of running the Open vSwitch open source virtual software switch, which is also OpenFlow capable, on Raspberry Pi.
