The students of UPCT have until October 15 to participate in APP Awards, a competition exclusively for UPCT, funded by the Vodafone Foundation to generate mobile applications, accessible to people with disabilities.
The CEO of the Vodafone Foundation Spain, Santiago Moreno, encourages UPCT students to participate in this contest during his speech at the Summer course, ‘New Generation Networks’, which was held in July at the School of Telecommunications and was funded by the Vodafone Foundation.
Four students from UPCT will be awarded by the Vodafone Foundation up to 3000 euros for the development of mobile applications available on Android devices.
«This contest exclusive to UPCT from the Vodafone Foundation is an incentive for students to learn, even before completing their studies, to put technology at the service of society, increasing the catalog of mobile applications that allow more accessible from day to day for people with certain disabilities or elderly» highlighted by the Vice Chancellor of ICT, Juan Luis Pedroza.
The announcement features independent living categories for applications that promote improved quality of life and the independence of people with disabilities as well as active aging, applications that help promote active aging and thus help improve the quality of life for older people. The winners of both categories will receive 3000 euros and a second prize in both of 1000 euros.
The basis of the contest, students from any course from UPCT are eligible, are available on the web.
